Spinal fusion surgery (spondylodesis) is performed to treat various changes and diseases of the spine, including unstable spine with severe discomfort, facet syndrome and spondylolisthesis. For some changes and diseases, the fusion of certain vertebral segments is the only effective treatment measure.
There are different surgical procedures available for stabilizing surgery (e.g. PLIF, TLIF), using screws, plates and cages. A distinction is also made between spinal fusion without and with an implant (interspinous implant).
Every operation is preceded by very precise planning. The exact procedure of the operation, aftercare, possible risks and alternatives are discussed calmly in advance. As your doctor, it is particularly important to me that you feel well informed and in good hands at all times during consultation, examination and treatment. I take enough time for every concern and am always personally available to answer any questions you may have before or after a procedure.
